Welcome to the land of windmills and tulips. Amsterdam has been waiting for you since 1275. This old city has been carefully crafted by many to provide the best photo settings you can imagine.

For a complete overview of all the best photo spots in Amsterdam, with exact locations, see the map at the bottom.

Wake me up when I'm famous

It's words and a bench. It's smart, it's funny, it's photogenic. Bring your sleeping mask and drop by in the Frans Halsstraat for this epic shot.

Houses of the zeven nations

When shooting photo's in Amsterdam, you can't miss the "zevenlandenhuisjes". They're located right next to the popular Vondelpark. They were build at the end of the 18th century and there's zeven of them in total. This photo is in front of the Spain house.

Roller dreams skating ring

Get your groove on at this funky location. It's specifically made to take pictures for social media. Besides the skating rink there's a Wonder world with photo setups to walk through. Tickets for both are bought separately.

Reguliersgracht

The prettiest canal of them all and not so busy, so a great spot for daytime shooting. My advise is to walk up and down from the Rembrandtplein and back. Take both sides and don't forget to look up. You'll find some magnificent settings for your photo's. The featured photo was taken on this location at the last bridge of the canal.

The Amstel Hotel

Quite the heavy weight under the hotels in Amsterdam, so don't expect to just walk in for an extensive photoshoot, but you can book a breakfast or lunch here. Or even go for a coffee. When you pass the main hall, snap your shots and enjoy your time here.

Damrak houses

Take your shot somewhere where there's no canal cruisers docked. It can add to the picture to have one in it. This one is close to the central station so a perfect place to start or end your tour. Tip: Walk to both corners of the water to have a different angle for a second and third photo.

Rijksmuseum research library

You have to buy a ticket and visit the Rijksmuseum for this photo, but that is no punishment at all. It does cost you more time, since you want to walk around the museum while you're here. Once inside you can make some sophisticated shots on this overpass. Top: Don't forget to take a picture in the middle of the bikelane in front of and underneath the museum.

Magere brug (skinny bridge)

One of the most famous bridges of Amsterdam. The magere brug is a sight to behold. A beautiful wooden drawbridge built in 1934 exclusively with your fotoshoot in mind. Tip: The bridge is covered with lights so als a great photo op at night, or anytime from a boat on the Amstel canal.

Flowermarket

This is actually the biggest floating flowermarket in the world although it feels like you're just standing on the waterside. Hop into one of the many flower stores, buy a nice bouquet as a prop and click it!

Lomanstraat

Besides having beautiful architecture, the trees of this street have grown to the light over time, making them hang over the street. Especially when you visit during fall this creates a stunning effect.
