Delve into the city on the seven hills. Lisbon’s vivid style and energetic playfulness give away instant joy when you visit. Now look through the eye of your lens to discover more of this lively city.
For a complete overview of all the best photo spots in Lisbon, with exact locations, see the map at the bottom.
Pink Street, Rua Nova do Carvalho
Unleash your inner unicorn for this colourful shot. This former red light district is now one of the go to area's for a Friday night. Or for all the colourful footsteps looking for a great shot. Tip: There's several nice ones to be taken here. Don't forget to look up at the colourful umbrella's!
Palácio da Pena
One of the seven wonders of Portugal. Palácio da Pena stands happy and bright on the hills of Sintra. This palace has so much joy to offer in making one perfect shot after the other. This is the spot for the picture on the stairs, but I might highlight the never ending possibilities of taking photo's here in a blogpost, but for now, be creative. Wander around, place yourself on balconies and click away.
Sé Cathedral
This Cathedral does't look very special at first glance. Especially not if you just came from Sintra. But there's something about the simplicity and the way the street curves that make this shot well worth it. And of course, go pro and play the game of train carts. The perfect shot includes a cart of course. Tip: Don't overlook the bookstand turned bar. It will look nice in some of your photo's!
Ler Devagar
The bookshop on the LX factory terrain offers you this wonderful shot. It does get crowded during the day so do take that into consideration. Tip: LX Factory has several great shots for you to discover. Take some time to walk around in this area and snap away!
Belém Tower
Angles, angles, high tide, low tide. There's many options here. Our favourite shot was from the edge of the stone wall, but do walk around. Just like you, this tower is pretty from all angles.
Anscesor da Bica
It doesn't get more Lisboa than this shot. A must make. The yellow train cart, the characteristic street stones, the sea in the background. You won't be the only one with this photo in mind at any given day, so choose your timing carefully.
Arco da Rua Augusta
This colossal arch stands perfect between the end of the beautiful Rua Augusta and the Praca do Comercio. It is a busy shopping area, so if you want the Arch to yourself, you know what to do. Tip: Both sides of the arch are actually equally pretty, so don't forget to double tap!
Palácio de Monserrate
When visiting Sintra, don't stop after visiting the Palace of Pena. I know it must feel like you've got more than enough footage after visiting that place, but don't miss out on Monserrate. This photo was taken in front of the Indian drawing room towards the balcony, but like Pena, this Palace has so much more to offer. Wander around and definitely don't miss the central hall.
Elevador de Santa Justa
This steel giant will lift your photo up and takes you 45 meters higher afterwards towards the Carmo square. All that steel and grandeur for a lift. Well, it gives us a nice backdrop for the perfect photo. Tip: This is one of the less busy spots, so perfect to plan this in the middle of your day or whenever you like. Tip2: Don't forget to snap one from above as well.
Jerónimos monastery
When visiting Belém, you should also check in at the Monastery for this amazing picture. The stone arches have great detail and leave an open backdrop towards the other side of the monastery. Try some different angles on this one. Tip: Right next to the monastery you'll find the best pastéis you'll ever eat in your live. Visit the factory next door for some sweetness.
