For a complete overview of all the best photo spots in San Francisco, with exact locations, see the map at the bottom.
California Street
10 out of 10 must make photo. This one is so iconic. It has the view of the declining street level. The tramrails. The red painted area also adds flavor, and then you got the Oakland Bay bridge in the back. Simply stunning.
TIP: Don't get into dangerous situations and be aware of your surrounding. If you want to take the picture mid street. Do so when the lights are red.
Lincoln Park Steps
A very populair spot to make pictures is the Lincoln Park steps. These stunning mosaic stairs offer the perfect backdrop for a colorful picture.
TIP: If you're into these type of pictures you're lucky. SF has a thing with colorful stairs. There's loads to be found around the city. Got to Cath them all?
Dutch Windmill in Golden Gate Park
A little bit of Holland in the Bay Area. Literally! This windmill was gifted as a mean of irrigation by the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina. The surrounding garden is thus called the Queen Wilhelmina garden. As you don't see an original windmill too often in this part of the world, you better make it count and snap some shots here.
Mildred Howard Frame
Instantly frame your picture without even printing it. It's all possible in the Hunters Point area. Normally, especially during the workweek, it's not to busy here so you can take your time and try some different poses.
The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps
There's quite a lot of colorful steps in the SF area, but we especially like this one for it's diversity in photo opportunities. Down below you got the blue ocean vibe to accompany you, while the top stairs are reserved for a more summervibe setting with their yellow tiles.
Baker Beach Golden Gate view
There's as many Golden Gate viewpoints as there are rivets in the bridge itself. But the view from Baker Beach needs to be included here. You can capture the great beauty of the whole bridge in full from here. Curvature visible and all. Definitely a sight to behold.
Palace of fine arts - waterside view
This century old building in the Marina District was originally build for the Panama-Pacific exposition of 1915. Now it's still in use as a remarkable build, but rather as a perfect backdrop for your stunning holiday pictures.
TIP: Make it a bit intellectual by using the right props. Read a book at the waterside for example.
Golden Gate overlook
Alignment is everything in this picture. Stand on the stone edge between the two trees and have the Golden Gate bridge perfectly align in your backdrop. This might be the most impressive view you van get from the Golden Gate bridge. Overlooking it's full length and height. Stunning.
Bernal Heights
This viewpoint offers one of the best views of the city. There's not much else to do here so you'll only go here to make this picture. Although, sometimes if you're lucky there is a swing installed. The government keeps removing it due to safety regulations, but people keep hanging it back. When in luck, you can also make a great picture on the swing.
Four seasons houses Haight-Ashbury
There are six Victorian style houses in a row and they are amazing. All with meticulous eye for details. Stunning. From left to right, house three till six represent the four seasons. Hence the name four seasons houses.
TIP: These houses do really well during golden hour.
