Rome is the go to city for great culture, delicious ice cream and amazing backdrops. Dive in and let the sheer weight of Europe’s history and maybe even the history of civilisation seep through on every picture you take.

For a complete overview of all the best photo spots in Rome, with exact locations, see the map at the bottom.

Rome - Villa Borghese boat ride

Dive in and row yourself in front of the Tempio di esculapio for the perfect shot at villa Borghese.

St. Peter Basilica

The St. Peter's Basilica is beautiful from every angle, and so are you. Let's combine the best of both worlds for an amazing photo like this one right here by Jil. She situated herself right in front of the Basilica but do play around with the angles and snap this beautiful moment!

The Trevi Fountain

Take a walk at the wild side. For aesthetic purposes it has been decided by many many instagram artists that the right side of the Trevi will do you right. Take a sit, strike a pose, and click away.

Pantheon

The dome of this amazing Roman temple is still a mystery to many and still holds the record of largest unreinforced concrete dome. So definitely go check that out, but we're here for the entrance. The pillars. Place yourself in front of it and snap away. Tip: You know this, but the earlier you're here, the less tourist.

The Spanish steps

Strike your pose on the Spanish steps with the Sacred Heart institute on the background. Or go down to the Fontana la Barcaccia to stand in front of it with the steps in your background.

Colosseum from Via Nicola Salvi

The Colosseum might well be the centrepiece in the open air museum called Rome. There's several great angles and inside the Colosseum there's several other photo settings, but this one is te best. The perfect angle and the height make it so you don't capture any other tourists. Enjoy this one!

Galleria Doria Pamphilj

This picture breathes wealth and luxury. In the Galleria Doria Pamphilj you'll find a large private collection and some of it is stacked in this insane hallway. Tip: As goes in Rome, come early or get closer to the camera to block other tourists out.

Roman Forum

If there ever was a place where modern civilisation was written it would be the Roman Forum. This is where you go to capture more than a snappy Instagram picture. You're capturing a piece of highly important history in your background.

Castel Sant'Angelo from the bridge

Middle of the bridge is often where you want to be to capture the magic. Same goes for Castel Sant'Angelo. Tip: If you find yourself here in a busy time, get closer to the camera to block out some tourists.

Spanish Steps on the handrail

This is another great angle for a handrail pose. The sacred heart in the background while you get comfortable on the railing of the stairs. Strike a pose and snap away!
